Fed: Austudy, Youth Allowance to rise from tomorrow

Almost 450,000 students and young people will get up to an extra $15.20 a fortnight
added to their Austudy or Youth Allowance payments from tomorrow.

Under the changes, Austudy payments for most students will rise $11.60 a fortnight
to $301.70 while the maximum rate, for single parents, will rise $15.20 to $395.30.

Youth Allowance payments will be boosted by between $6.30 and $15.20 per fortnight,
with young people living away from home to get $301.70 a fortnight, up $11.60.

Children and Youth Services Minister LARRY ANTHONY says the change will reflect rising inflation.
